We offer a factory finishing service, where the joinery will be supplied fully decorated with a three coat system in the chosen paint or stain finish. The finish will be applied by spray in a temperature controlled factory environment allowing the coatings to fully cure, using end grain sealers and ensuring the correct paint or stain film thicknesses are maintained to provide ultimate protection.
All of our paint and stain finishes are highly durable Sikkens water based microporous coatings. Sikkens are recognised in Europe as leaders in the provision of technically advanced paint and coating systems for the joinery industry. Their joinery coatings have ultra-low levels of VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds), meaning lower environmental emissions, both during manufacture and application.
Microporous finishes are flexible, which is vital in allowing the natural movement of timber without detriment to the coating performance. Whilst preventing liquid water from penetrating the coating, they also let the wood to breathe, allowing moisture in the timber to pass out as vapour.
Sikkens paints can be colour matched to any RAL number or Farrow & Ball colour to compliment your existing décor or new colour scheme.
Sikkens wood stains are available in a range of Colour Classics but it is worth noting that the finished stain colour will appear differently on each species of timber depending on how light or dark the natural timber colour is.
We can also supply external joinery products with either just a base coat stain or primer coat only, leaving you to arrange the final decoration on site after installation.
On site painting must take place immediately after installation to avoid the risk of rain or moisture saturating the timber before the final decoration is applied, trapping it inside and resulting in timber decay. Particular attention should be paid to areas of end grain, e.g the underside of window and door bottom rails, which are the most susceptible to absorbing moisture. Premature failure of the paint or stain finish can occur if it is not allowed to fully cure or has been applied in unsuitable weather conditions.
